Contribute to the Newsletter
The Friends welcome contributions of articles, photos, and relevant event announcements for the newsletter. Contact Jeff Brandt (jbrandt@fossilbeds.org) or Melissa Barton (webmaster@fossilbeds.org) with ideas or submissions. Appropriate topics include natural history and history of the area, coverage of events at the Monument, profiles of staff or volunteers, personal accounts of experiences at the park, etc.
Contribute to the Website
Shorter news items, wildlife sightings, hiking reports, etc. and photographs can be sent to Melissa Barton (webmaster@fossilbeds.org) for the front page weblog. 200-500 words (about 1/2 to 1 typed, single-spaced page) is a good length for blog posts. Longer articles should be submitted to the newsletter. Photographs are always welcome with or without text. You do not have to know anything about websites to contribute–just send in your text and photographs and we’ll do the rest.
Departments include Species Spotlight (a profile of a fossil or living species found at Florissant), Notes from the Field (scientific research at the Monument), and A Day in the Life (first-person accounts from park staff and volunteers). We are also interested in volunteer profiles/interviews. If you are willing to be interviewed or interview someone else, please let us know.
