The International Dark Sky Association (IDSA) annual photo contest just started and is called “Capture the Dark”.  I have 2 local area astronomy dark sky images entered in the contest, they represent the best of the night sky in our area at the Florissant Fossil Beds, and 11 Mile Reservoir (see attached). 

Requesting your help to showcase Florissant on the Dark Sky Map!  That is done by on-line VOTING at the IDSA website listed below.  The more votes on-line, the better chance to win. You can vote once a day for each picture (since they’re in difference categories), up to July 31.  Thank you in advance for your time and vote! ?

1. Click this link to get to the IDSA Voting Page:  Capture The Dark

2. In lower left corner click the “Vote Now” button.

3. It takes you to the photo entries, and there are alot of good ones.  To get to mine, in the “Search” tab type “From Stumps to Stars” for the Fossil Beds pic, and Vote for that one. It’s in the International Dark Sky Places category.

4. Then vote again for the 11 Mile pic by typing “Colorado Rocky Mountain” in the Search bar.  It’s in the Capture the Sky category.  

5. You’ll get a confirmation email to validate each vote, simply click on the “Validate Vote” button, and click “Confirm Now”.
